WA duo arrested over ‘destructive burglary series’ against Perth businesses

By Heather McNeill

Two people accused of stealing more than $71,000 for dozens of businesses across Perth have been arrested following a six-month crime spree.

WA Police Acting Detective Inspector Jim Stanbury said “some very good old-fashioned detective work” had led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man and 18-year-old woman in connection to 35 commercial burglaries.

“These are significant arrests of offenders who have been doing everything in their power to avoid police,” he said.

“This was a destructive burglary series that seriously affected many business owners and local residents across multiple suburbs in the Perth metropolitan area.”

The pair had allegedly forced entry to an Indian restaurant in Shelley around 1am on February 2 before leaving with cash.

It will be further alleged, between February and July they went on to steal over $71,000 from till floats belonging to various businesses in the Cannington, Riverton and Victoria Park areas.
